Boredom Rescue HQ

Working parents

Summer activities when you cannot run camp from the next room.

When work is happening and summer boredom starts, the useful move is a short launch routine: choose the boundary, offer three quests, and let the child own the first step.

Use the five-minute kickoff

  1. Name the room, table, porch, or yard boundary.
  2. Set the timer: 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
  3. Say what is off limits: heat, sharp tools, water, streets, or messy supplies.
  4. Offer one calm quest, one maker quest, and one moving quest.
  5. Ask for a two-minute show-and-tell when the timer ends.

Good working-parent quests

Try a tiny museum, paper arcade, bookmark factory, comic strip studio, blanket reading fort, weather log, kindness notes, or quiet restaurant menu design.
