Screen-light
Screen-light summer activities without turning boredom into a battle.
The goal is not a perfect no-screen summer. The goal is to make the next good offline choice easier than another bored scroll.
Make the replacement concrete
- Replace "go do something" with three visible choices.
- Keep setup under five minutes.
- Use supplies that already exist in the home.
- End with a visible artifact: a tour, sign, map, comic, menu, scorecard, or invention.
Use screens as a boundary, not a bribe
Try: "First choose one quest for 30 minutes. After that we will decide what fits the rest of the day." This gives kids agency without making every activity a negotiation.
